1. Who we are

rentrooster.ie is operated as part of Lynsco Group Ltd, an Irish-registered company (Registration Number 570133; VAT Number IE3387161QH), trading as RentRooster.

For privacy questions, contact support@rentrooster.ie.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the marketplace, we may process:

  • Account data: name, email address, phone number, password/security information, account region and verification status.
  • Profile and listing data: profile information, listing descriptions, photographs, location/area information, pricing and availability.
  • Rental data: rental requests, dates, booking status, on-platform messages, owner/renter references, deposits, disputes and support records.
  • Payment and payout data: transaction references and status supplied by our payment providers. Sensitive card/bank data may be collected directly by those providers rather than stored by RentRooster.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser/device information, security logs, cookies and information about use of the Service.
  • Location data: approximate or listing-location data where needed to operate local search and item listings.

3. Identity verification through Veriff

RentRooster uses Veriff, a specialist identity-verification provider, for identity checks required before certain marketplace actions.

RentRooster does not store a copy of your passport or identity-document image in its marketplace database. The document capture and identity-check process takes place through Veriff.

During a verification, Veriff may process identity-document images and details, selfie/video or facial/biometric information, device/technical information and other data needed to complete the identity check. That processing is subject to Veriff's privacy and security practices.

RentRooster may retain the verification result/status, Veriff session/reference identifiers, relevant timestamps and limited verification metadata returned by Veriff where needed to operate the verified account, prevent fraud, investigate misuse or handle a dispute or claim. We do not store the identity-document image itself in the RentRooster marketplace database.

Veriff publishes information about its security controls, including ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type II, and its privacy practices. You can review Veriff security & compliance and Veriff's privacy notice.

4. Why we use personal data

We use personal data where necessary to:

  • create and administer accounts, listings and rental requests;
  • authenticate users and carry out identity, phone, security and fraud-prevention checks;
  • process or facilitate bookings, payments and owner payouts through our service providers;
  • provide customer support and investigate disputes, misuse, safety incidents or Lender Guarantee claims;
  • protect the platform, users and our legitimate business interests from fraud, abuse and cyber-security threats;
  • comply with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or law-enforcement obligations where applicable;
  • improve the Service and understand how it is used; and
  • send marketing where permitted and subject to your available opt-out rights.

Depending on the activity and applicable law, our legal basis may include performance of a contract, steps requested before entering a contract, legitimate interests, consent, or compliance with a legal obligation.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal data. We may share relevant information with:

  • identity-verification, payment, communications, hosting, analytics, security and customer-support service providers;
  • the other party to a rental where information is reasonably necessary to complete or manage the booking;
  • professional advisers, auditors or claims/dispute specialists where reasonably necessary;
  • law-enforcement bodies, courts, regulators or other authorities where required or justified by law; and
  • a successor or purchaser in connection with a legitimate corporate restructuring, subject to applicable data-protection requirements.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including operating the account, completing transactions, resolving disputes and claims, preventing fraud, maintaining appropriate records and meeting legal obligations.

Different categories have different retention needs. Verification data held by Veriff is subject to Veriff's own retention arrangements and the services/configuration used by RentRooster. Where data is no longer required, we will delete or anonymise it where reasonably practicable and legally permitted.

7. International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside your country or the European Economic Area/United Kingdom. Where required, we use or rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms and safeguards provided by applicable data-protection law.

8. Security

We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data, including access controls, transport security and restricted administrative access. No online system can promise absolute security, so users should also protect their passwords and devices and tell us promptly if they suspect account misuse.

9. Cookies and similar technology

RentRooster may use necessary cookies for login, security and core functionality and other cookies/technologies for preferences, analytics or marketing where permitted. Browser and cookie-consent controls can be used to manage non-essential cookies where applicable.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law and exemptions, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict personal data; object to certain processing; request portability; withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and complain to a data-protection authority.

To make a privacy request, contact support@rentrooster.ie. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11. Complaints

Please contact us first if you have a privacy concern so we can investigate it. You may also complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) or another supervisory authority with jurisdiction over your personal data.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service, our providers or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be published on this page, and material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
